Avril Ramona Lavigne was born in Napanee, Ontario, Canada on September 27th, 1984. Avril grew up in the suburbs on the outskirts of the city. Her parents John & Judy Lavigne are French-Canadians. When she was 2 years old her mother said she knew she would be a singer someday. She's been performing ever since. "I always knew in my heart that I'd be singing." Avril has a younger sister, Michelle and an older brother, Matthew.

At 16, she moved to Manhattan and began work on her music career with or without her parents consent. Originally she began pursuing a career in country and folk music, but transitioned into "pop-rock" because of its more lucrative possibilities and was more her style. She dropped out of high school after 11th grade when she secured a record deal with Arista records in 2001. When Avril was almost 18, she released "Complicated" from her debut album titled: "Let Go" Which went platinum 6 times. The song "Complicated" has since been used in numerous Films and Television shows. Since then her popularity has only exploded with her continued success and great musical talent on her follow-up album.

In 2002 the out spoken petite sexy skater girl from a small town in Canada hit the bigtime. Avril's musical breakthrough, "Complicated" went to number #1 on Billboards Top 100. Also earning her 5 Grammy nominations, MTV music awards, MTV European music awards and many more fans worldwide. See her in the film National Lampoon's installment of Going the Distance in 2003 as herself performing in concert. Even with all the success Avril has shown she is an independent, confident, determined young woman. Which is a politically correct way of saying she doesn't take any shit from people or reall give a fuck what they think. (we should all relate) Avril however has real talent and is not some cooked up record store pop bimbo princess. She writes all her own music, plays guitar and piano drawing mostly from her real life experiences and feelings. An amazing accomplishment for a such a young women.

On May 25, 2004 Avril Lavigne's new CD Under My Skin was released, 381,000 copies were sold of her second album within weeks making it her 2nd #1 album in her 4 year professional music career. "Under My Skin" album was also #1 in the UK.

In October 2004 Avril appears on the cover of FHM's hottie of the month in the sexy women of music issue, Photos HERE. Living up to her image this photo shoot packs plenty of tough sexy attitude. At 20 years old Avril is shedding her little girl image. Soon after she begins dating Deryck Whibley from the music group Sum 41. Deryck was living in London and he and Avril began a long distance relationship. Before long Avril's career sort of moved her to Los Angeles from New York City and the distance became too great so Deryck moved to LA to be with Avril. Smart move considering the relationship would most certainly be doomed otherwise. In October 2005, she is planning her upcoming marriage to prolly her first real boyfriend Deryck Whibley.

Avril in March 2005 appears on "Mad TV" as the musical guest and even appears in a skit about premarital sex and why we should all have more of it. HEARD HERE Additionally, Avril does a really good acoustic version of "Nobody's Home" on the show. Further dispelling any myth thats she's the pop tart of the year.

Avril will be in her first feature film in 2006, Over the Hedge well cartoon film anyway. She plays the voice role of a young daughter in a family of possums. The papa possum's comedy is played by the stylings of the over acting William Shatner. The flick is stocked full of big name hollywood voices including: Bruce willis, William Shatner, Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy.

Avril gets married in 2006, the 22 year old hottie weds Sum 41's Deryck Whibley in LA. Together they work on amoung other things her new album. Her new album is released in April 2007.
