Jami Gertz was born to jewish parents Walter and Sharyn Gertz in Chicago, IL on October 28th 1965. Jami attended Maine East High School in Park Ridge, IL, where she performed in some school plays. Upon graduation, received her professional training at New York University, where she majored in drama.

Jami's big break came when she was cast as "Boots St. Claire" to work on the coming-of-age television series "The Facts of Life" she appeared in 5 episodes in 1979 at age 14. Another TV series quickly followed in 1984 with "Square Pegs" but the show never really caught on. In 1981 Jami made her big screen debut in the film "Endless Love ". In 1984 she starred in her first feature film in "Alphabet City". Many roles would follow including Sixteen Candles 1984. Proving she was more than a capable actress she lands many roles in film including, Mischief (1985) Quicksilver (1986) Crossroads (1986) Solarbabies (1986) She is best know for her later film roles in "Less Than Zero" and the cult classic "The Lost Boys". (1987)

Throughout her career, this brown-eyed sexy beauty successfully alternates between films, television and theater roles. She made her Los Angeles stage debut in "Out of Gas on Lover's Leap" with Jason Patric, followed by a role opposite Tyne Daly in the Los Angeles Theater Center production of Come Back, Little Sheba. She also starred in the Off-Broadway production of Wrong Turn at Lungfish with George C. Scott and Tony Danza which is probably considered her best work in theater.

Although work continued steadily Jami's presence in the Hollywood spotlight started strong in the 80s but tailed off as she raised her own family. She still made films but they were B movie roles at best. Starting with films like The Boyfriend School (1990) Sibling Rivalry (1990) Jersey Girl (1992). Directors prolly wanted to see more of Jamies sexy naughty girl side but she never seemed comfortable with nudity and these films prolly died as a result. Her career would resinate for years as her The Lost Boys 80's dream girl character "Star".

After years away from the cameras she landed a comeback role as the girlfriend in the 1996 hit, Twister. in (1996) starring Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton and Jami Gertz in a small supporting role. After "Twister" she appeared in several "ally Mc Beal" episodes and became a guest star on "ER". Also notable film roles in Seven Girlfriends (1999) and Lip Service (2001)

More recently Jami was cast on a new TV sitcom called "Still Standing" (MORE HERE) in 2002-present. The show is a comedy about a couple who are Bill and Judy Miller they are a blue-collar Chicago couple. As parents who came of age in the 70s, they raise their three children more by the seat of their pants than by the book, trying to do things a bit differently than their parents did with them, trying to be cool parents. The show is a big CBS hit and Jami has revived her TV career. This is a character that Jami can relate to it would seem. Recently she starred in the highly acclaimed mini-series "Gilda Radner: It's Always Something," and will next be seen in the CBS movie "Undercover Christmas." in 2004.

Jami has always put her family first in her life and she manages to be a mother / wife first and a hollywood actress second. She is still so sexy despite her years of experience. Still living with her long time stock investor husband, Tony Ressler, in Los Angeles with their three children, Oliver (b1992) and Nicholas (b1995) and Theo (b1999). The couple has been married since 1989. The couple will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary in 2009.

Jami's show "Still Standing" is hotter than ever and has been renewed for 2005-2006 seasons. The first season will be on DVD soon check it out here.
