Julia Louis-Dreyfus was born on January 13, 1961, in the New York City borough of Manhattan. Her family is ridiculiously wealthy originally from France. Her grandfather, Pierre Louis-Dreyfus, was a member of the French Resistance during WWII, and flew 88 missions for Charles de Gaulle's Free French Air Force. Her father Gerard Louis-Dreyfus is a tycoon billionaire and divorced her mother when Julia was still a very young girl, and she spent most her childhood in Washington, D.C., and the New York City areas growing up. Both her parents eventually remarried after their divorce (when Julia was one year-old), and she has two half-sisters from her mother's second marriage and two half-sisters from her father's second marriage. She considers both her step-parents to be as important in her life as her biological parents.
She attended college in 1979 and the sexy member of the Delta Gamma sorority met her future husband, Brad Hall (actor) while still in college. The couple was married years later after Julia left the show in 1987. They have Two sons born Henry (b. 1992) and Charles (b. 1997) an are still married today. She currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their two children.
Her big break came in 1983 with a role on the famed late night TV Show Saturday Night Live (SNL). The fresh faced beauty out of college Julia lands a premiere guest player role on the show. She would work capably over the next few years before finally leaving in 1986.
She made her feature movie debut in the Woody Allen film "Hannah and Her Sisters" (1986). Julia would land many bit parts over in films over the next years. It was her breakout role as Elaine in the TV smash hit "Seinfeld" in 1990. The show ran for the next 8 years gaining Julia many awards along the way. This was a hot year for mo0vies and she also appeared in films "Soul Man". The low budget horror flick "Troll" she is briefly scene as the sexy forest nymph. In 1989 she would work on the movie "Christmas Vacation".
Julia was no doubt offered many movie roles over the years but always seemed to remain a TV type actress despite her great ability. When questioned about if she would appear nude in a film, she responded "Well nobody's ever asked me to". Sort of hard to believe for the Hollywood crowd but... The only "love scene" in her movie career credit so far is a pg rated appearance in the film "Deconstructing Harry" (1997)
Julia became superstar famous when she was cast on the hit TV series "Seinfeld" in 1990. She was as the sexy ex girlfriend member of the the hit cast of talented misfits. The TV show about nothing set a new standard for TV shows at the time. She and funny man Jerry Seinfeld boasted the most popular TV series for 8 years. The "Seinfeld" series finale' lands them all in jail for crimes against humanity. Years after the show all the actors except Jerry tryed their own failed spinoff TV series. All the shows failed and ended with a rumor about a curse amoung the actors & their doomed TV shows and careers after seinfeld.
It was announced that her TV series, "Watching Ellie" (2002) has been canceled by NBC. Show revolves around Julias character as a broke jazz nightclub singer and her friends and neighbors. Lasting one year, it more than doubled the staying power of fellow "Seinfeld" (1990) alumni Jason Alexander and Michael Richards' TV series, but failed to draw a wide enough audience to warrant renewal. [June 2003]
Julia makes another primetime TV comeback with her new show "The New Adventures of Old Christine" in 2006. This Show revolves around Julias surly character as a divorced mother of one that still hangs out with her ex-husband and his new finace' "Christine".
