Jennifer Lynn Lopez was born on July 24, 1970 in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx, NY. Her father, David, is a computer technician. Her mother, Guadalupe, taught kindergarten. Jennifer is the middle of three daughters. Her elder sister, Leslie, is a housewife who sings opera. Her younger sister, Lynda Lopez, is a DJ on New York's WKTU, a VH1 VJ, and a morning news show correspondent on New York's Channel 11. Jennifer's parents were born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, but did not meet until both came to America. Her mother's parents were Europeans who settled in Puerto Rico. Jennifer speaks very little spanish and struggles with basic words and phrases but her family speaks fluently. She says that it was her parents' work ethic that made a difference in her life. Jennifer took singing and dancing lessons from age 5. She attended 12 years of Catholic school, including graduating from Preston High School an all-girl school. She played softball and tennis in high school and was a gymnast. Miss Lopez never had any aspirations to attend college but did attend Baruch College in New York for a semester.

After high school, she briefly worked in a law office . During this
time, she continued dance classes at night. In 1988 at 18, she left home because her mother was scared by her decision to pursue show business. As a child Lopez appeared in musical theatre, before making her film debut as a 16 year old in the movie "My Little Girl". Her break into television came in 1990 when she won a dance contest to become a Fly Girl on the Fox television comedy series In Living Color with. (1990), at age 20 she moved to L.A., but initially hated it. Finally her boy friend, David Cruz, moved to be with her there and she learned to accept her new environment.

She starred in several failed TV shows from 1993-1994 with Hotel malibu, South Central and Second Chances. She also worked as a dancer for Janet Jackson on one of her tours. At one point in her career she called home crying and her mother told her to "toughen up this the career you chose", so she did.

Jennifer's career took off from her "Living Color" stint. She made her big screen debut in Gregory Nava's "Mi Familia" in (1995) and was quickly cast as the sexy love interrest "Grace" in the film "Money Train" starring Wesly Snipes and Woody Harrelson. The next year Jennifer plays Jack Nicholsons mistress in "Blood and Wine" (1996).

After early success acting Oliver Stone cast her in his erotic thriller "U-turn" in 1997 including an all star cast featuring Sean Pean. She reached new peaks when she was paided an astounding 1 million dollars with her portrayal of slain Latino singer "Selena" (1997) HBO movie 1997. At the rap party for Selena Ojani Noa proposes to Jennifer and they are married. They met while he was waitering at a restaurant owned by Gloria Estefan in Miami Beach, Florida, USA. in Feb 1997, and then divorce in 1998. The same year Lopez stars with George Clooney in the movie "Out of Sight". .

Jennifers music career took off in 1999 with her release of her debut album "On the 6" However, it was her role in Selena that led to the revival of her music career. Major label backing, heavyweight producers of the calibre of Emilio Estefan, Rodney Jerkins and Sean "Puffy" Combs, and the attendant crossover success of Martin and Iglesias, made 1999's "On The 6" one of the summer's most hotly anticipated releases. The album, named after the train line Jennifer used to take into the city, was a predictable commercial success. The first single "If You Had My Love" (produced by Jerkins), topped the US charts for five weeks. The follow-up, "Waiting For Tonight", was also a transatlantic hit. The album's other tracks, most of which were co-written by executive producer Corey Rooney, included "Feelin' So Good" (featuring cameos from rappers Fat Joe and Big Punisher), a duet with Marc Anthony on "No Me Ames" and the Trackmasters-produced "Should Have Never". The same year of the CD release she met and dated Puff Daddy aka Sean Combs her record producer type boyfreind who's contacts in the music industry certianly didnt hurt. The song "Waiting for tonight" is an instant hit and suddenly Jennifer Lopez is now know as "J-Lo". That relationship has a rocky ending when Jennifer and Puffy are arrested for possetion of a stolen gun they are detained for some time then finallly released after a shooting at a NYC night club. Weeks later newly revived pop diva J-Lo aka Jennifer Lopez was about to deep six her romance with the Puff Daddy now known as P-Diddy. Rumored to have her body insured for $1 billion, and had her ripe booty protected with a $300 million policy.

In the year 2000 year Jennifer is also known as FHM's Sexiest woman of the year the sexy starlet/diva is hotter than ever. Jennifer months later, makes a Music Video for MTV and meets her 2nd husband Cris Judd. Cris is working on the video with jennifer as a dancer/choreographer and aparently a hot romance quickly develops. They are married in Sept 2001 with a quick but extravagant LA wedding. The relationship quickly fizzles out ending with a divorce 15 months later in Jan 2002. Cris Judd now receives alimony totaling 1/2 million dollars year.

In the meantime jennifer relases her 2nd Music CD " This Is Me...Then " in nov 2002. Now in full J-Lo effect her new hit movie is released " Maid in Manhatten " both are instant hits and her career hits its highest point. J-Lo's hot booty gets almost as much press as she does.

More recently Jennifer now commanding 10 milliion dollars a picture (highest for a latina ever) in hollywood began dating Ben Affleck (july 2002) Lopez and Affleck met on the set of "Gigli" in late 2001 and were engaged in November 2002. . Rumors strirred that while jennifer was married to Cris Judd Ben Affleck was sending her roses, gifts, and quite possibly Mr. Happys tickle surprise

Then Jennifer Lopez release in December 2003, was premiered by the transatlantic hit single "Jenny From The Block", featuring Jadkiss and Styles. The video to the single starred actor Ben Affleck, Lopez's new love interest. The couple was a instant hollywood paprazzi photo frenzy culminating with the couple's new nick name "Bennifer". It appeared to be a hollywood power glamour couple match made in heaven. Ben confirms engagement to Jennifer Lopez, giving her a reportedly $3.5 million pink diamond ring. (Nov. 2002). During this time Ben and Jen make two movies together Gigli and Jersey Girl. Gigli bombs at the box office and is met by critics by ice cold reviews. Jersey girl as yet still unreleased but is due by summer 2004. Jennifer Lopez also wrote the song "Dear Ben" about him and how much she loved him. Ben later is rumored to have attended a bacholer party and something happens but the couple denies anything is wrong. Ben and Jen even attend a MLB Red Sox Playoff at Fenway Park Boston Massachusetts (Oct 2003). Jen looked less than thrilled by Jan 2004 the couple is split. Jennifer returns Bens diamond ring to seal the relationships fate.

In in the summer of 2004 hot rumors fly about the newly named hot girly nickname J-Lo and her "Latina love muffins", reguarding her relationship to Singer/songwriter Marc Anthony the couple have been spotted together recently in public. In a hush hush ceremony last June in 2004 they are secretly married. The superstars, who officially tied the knot in a hush-hush ceremony on June 5th 2004 but had yet to publicly acknowledge the union, but now performed for the first time together at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards in Feb 2005.
