Catherine Jones was born on September 25, 1969, in Swansea, West Glamorgan, Wales, UK to her Welsh father Dai Jones, who formerly worked for a candy factory, and her Irish mother Pat Jones. She is named after her grandmothers: Catherine Fair on her mother's side, and Zeta Jones on her fathers. Catherine was raised with her two brothers named David Jones, a development executive born in 1967, and Lyndon Jones, who now works at Catherine's production company; born in 1972. She was born in Swansea but grew up in the small seaside town of Mumbles in Wales. Catherine showed an interest early on in entertainment. She sang and danced her way to local stardom before she was ten years-old, as a part of a Catholic congregation's performing troupe in 1979. As a child, she was exposed to a virus that gave her breathing difficulties. This required a tracheotomy surgery, which ultimately left a surgical scar on her neck.

She later starred on stage in 'Annie', 'Bugsy Malone', and 'The Pajama Game'. At 15, Catherine eventually played the lead in the British revival of 42nd Street. She was originally cast as the second understudy for the lead role in the musical but when the star and first understudy became sick the night the play's producer was in the audience, she was given the lead for the rest of the musical's production.

Catherines first feature film is "Les Mille et une nuits" ... aka "1001 Nights" in 1990 as character Sheherazade. The 21 year old unknown is mostly renowed in the film because of many hot nude scenes and sexy naked appearances. The film is hard to get here in the states and is almost an underground film but definately worth a look. This is really her only fully nude appearance and is likely to be the only one besides of course some papparazzi shots of her on a yacht in the south of france with her then boyfreind actor John Leslie.

She first made a name for herself in the early '90s when she starred in the Yorkshire Television comedy/drama series "The Darling Buds of May" (1991) as Mariette Jane Larkin. The show was a smash hit and made Jones one of the United Kingdom's most popular television actress celebrities. Catherine subsequently was offered the choice supporting roles in several films, including Christopher Columbus: The Discovery (1992), the miniseries Katharina die Große (1995) (TV) and a larger part as the seductive Sala in The Phantom (1996)

Catherine landed her breakthrough movie role playing the fiery Elena opposite Anthony Hopkins and Antonio Banderas in The Mask of Zorro (1998). This film made her a star, well at least for those outside the UK. A sexy sultry look blended with her erotically playful pompus accent make her one of the worlds most beautiful and desirable women. Just one look from the lovely and talented beauty is enough to melt audiences and mens hearts alike.

Remarkably she begins dating a much older Michael Douglas (born 1944 - son of famous Kirk Douglas) to the dismay and shock of pretty much everyone. Leaving everyone thinking there is only one reason a woman that beautiful dates a man 25 years older, enough to be her grandfather. They meet while filming "Traffic" and quickly become very close. They became engaged in Aspen, Colorado December 31 1999. In public appearances it suddenly becomes clear that Miss Jones is quite pregnant as a result of the brief relationship. On a less than tasteful note, nude paparazzi photos surface of a 8 months pregnant Jones sunning herself outside a seaside vacation villa. In the photos she is seen smoking a cigarette and looking more than a little irritated.

She next suddenly stars in many big budget blockbusters. Quickly on to the hollywodd fast track, offers pour in for films like Entrapment (1999), The Haunting (1999), critically acclaimed Traffic (2000), America's Sweethearts (2001). Catherines natural sex appeal and intense beauty allow her to steal and movie easily. With her acting talent being only an after thought to her intrancing radiance and grace.

Her first child with fiancé Michael Douglas, a boy named Dylan Michael was born on 8th August 8th 2000 about 6 p.m. at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre near Beverly Hills. The baby weighed in at 7 pounds and seven ounces and measured 21-1/2 inches. This was Catherines first child but Douglas's 3rd and old Mike cements the relationship in granite virtually for good.

They are married in November 18, 2000, less than a year after first meeting in New York's Plaza Hotel on a saturday night. They purchase the best of everything of course her wedding ring which includes a Celtic motif and was bought in a Welsh town called Aberystwyth. A traditional Welsh choir sang at her wedding which was held in New York City at the famed Plaza Hotel. Her friend, singer Bonnie Tyler sang at her wedding. Both Zeta-Jones and Tyler come from the same region of Wales and have been freinds for a long time. The wedding was a who's who of hollywood events and a media circus to say the least. The couple decides to sell the wedding photos for over a million dollars to a european paper.

In 2002 Catherine Zeta-Jones reaches a pinnacle of her career and receives an Academy Award for her portrayal of the murderous Vilma Kelly in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical "Chicago". The movie, which won the Academy Award and Golden Globe for "Best Picture," also stars Renée Zellweger and Richard Gere.

Catherine gave birth to her first daughter and second child, named Carys Zeta Douglas, early Easter morning in New Jersey (April 20, 2003). This is the couples second child and the Hollwood relationship passes 3 years. Amazing by Hollywood standards. Mr Douglas remains a diligent husband and father happy to allow Catherine to pursue her acting career as he regurgitates on many public occasions. I'm sure they have a team of child care providers to ease his burden.

The couple seems to enjoy filing lawsuits together, the first being against a magazine for publishing nude photos of a pregnant Jones smoking a cigarette in a Mexico resort home. The next against the Spice House, "Reno's Friendliest Topless Cabaret" for the unauthorized use of her photo on its website October 21, 2004. The most pathetic being of a british OK! magazine paying 1m pounds for exclusive rights to photographs of her big day, pictures subsequently being syndicated to 23 other publications in 21 countries. Money isn’t really the issue here, Zeta Jones famously and fatuously claiming in court that £1m was "not much to us", with her husband helpfully adding that the OK! fee was "a pittance". Of course that didn't stop them from accepting the pittance payment. The actress insists the unauthorised photographs that found their way into Hello!’s possession did her appearance no favours, and that her family’s "peace and happiness evaporated" as a result. Well it seems she isn't too much of an hottie élitist bitch now is she? Perhaps she should look into a physician removing the bug from her ass. Most people only complain about thier DMV photos.

Catherine's career rolls straight ahead despite some bad press in her native country. She is set to star in several films due out in 2005. Including a completed new "Legend of Zorro" film and "Smoke & Mirrors" due for completion in 2005. In 2006 she is rumoured to star in "Rachel's Holiday" and "Coming Out" in pre production trouble. It was supposed to be the jubilant homecoming of a local girl made good, but Catherine Zeta-Jones' Welsh-based musical movie, Coming Out, has been put on hold because of the weak American dollar. So don't forget to go out and get yourself more credit cards because nothing says sucker more than late fees.
