Ah, the ambitious Welsh climber who uses her physical attributes to further an acting career that should not have progressed beyond made-for-TV trash? Why all the fuss?

Thirty-three-year-old Zeta Jones told the High Court in London last week that illicit photographs of her 2000 wedding at the Plaza Hotel, New York, to fellow thespian Michael Douglas - 25 years her senior and star of blockbusters like Fatal Attraction and Wall Street - "devastated" the couple and "violated" their privacy. The heavily pregnant actress is consequently suing Hello! magazine for £500,000.

Wait a minute. Hasn’t Zeta Jones already profited from her wedding?

She certainly has. OK! magazine forked out £1m for exclusive rights to photographs of her big day, pictures subsequently being syndicated to 23 other publications in 21 countries. Trouble is, OK! is also suing Hello! for loss of earnings in what some have dubbed the dross - sorry, gloss - wars.

Are you suggesting that Zeta Jones is bleating about invasions of privacy on the one hand, while grabbing a small fortune from a publisher with the other? Double standards, surely.

Money isn’t really the issue here, Zeta Jones famously and fatuously claiming in court that £1m was "not much to us", with her husband helpfully adding that the OK! fee was "a pittance". The actress insists the unauthorised photographs that found their way into Hello!’s possession did her appearance no favours, and that her family’s "peace and happiness evaporated". You know what these hyper-sensitive luvvies are like.

No, Tell Me.

Thin-skinned and thick-headed. The red-tops couldn’t believe their luck when a public bitch-fest ensued later in the week, Zeta Jones and Posh Spice trading insults about who looked fatter on their wedding day.

But Zeta Jones must be chuffed at the reaction to her latest film, Chicago? Oscars?
